Parrots are highly intelligent, social, and largely undomesticated animals living in human homes. Many behaviours labelled as problematic are natural behaviours expressed in environments that do not meet their needs. This talk explores the role of enrichment, environment, diet, and sleep in preventing behaviour problems and improving welfare.

Parrots quickly expose weaknesses in training that relies on control or compliance. When your learner can simply fly away, motivation, clarity, reinforcement, and environment must be right. This talk explores how working with parrots reshaped my approach to training dogs and reveals cross-species lessons that can improve training outcomes with any animal.
